Does Aquaphor make your eyelashes grow?

Oh yes, that Tiktok hack. I watched a particular Tiktok where applying aquaphor to your lashes was supposedly meant to make it grow longer. Anyway, I’ve always been insecure about my short lashes and I’m open to almost anything that would make my eyelashes grow, provided it isn’t harmful or dangerous. The hard part now was getting aquaphor in my country.

Aquaphor is not as common as Vaseline here, so I went to the big malls and stores but my search proved unlucky. After weeks of looking for it, I ordered it on Amazon and it took about a week to be delivered to me. As I opened the box containing my aquaphor, I was apprehensive, what if it didn’t work? I shrugged it off. Even if it didn’t work, I’d have smooth and well moisturised lashes. So, for one week I religiously applied the aquaphor to my lashes on a daily basis both night and day. I’d admit that it gave my lashes a wet, scanty look I really loved. You know almost like a wet look lash extension but shorter.

I was really pleased with the results but to say it grew my lashes? I’d have to disagree. I didn’t notice any difference in the length of my lashes in my before and after photos (I wish I took a picture but my phone’s screen is terrible)

I also came across the Tiktok videos of some doctors and they said aquaphor doesn’t make your lashes grow, instead it keeps it moisturised and healthy but you need to be careful about how you put it on your eye. It should only be applied on clean eyelashes as it can trap and seal in bacteria and also do not put it directly in your eye.

Is aquaphor good for your lashes?

Aquaphor is primarily designed as a healing ointment for dry or damaged skin and is not specifically formulated for eyelashes. While it can provide moisture, applying it directly to your eyes is not the best choice. However applying it in your lashes is okay.

How do you use Aquaphor for eyelashes?

1. Wash your face: Start with a clean face to remove any makeup, dirt, or debris from your lashes and eyelids.

2. Apply a small amount: Take a tiny amount of Aquaphor on a clean fingertip and then slide from tip to root and back again until satisfied. Be careful not to put it in your eye. You could also use a q-tip to apply it gently.

3. Be extremely cautious: Close your eyes tightly to prevent the ointment from getting into your eyes, and gently apply the Aquaphor to your lashes and the base of your eyelashes, much like you would with mascara.

4. Avoid overapplication: Use a minimal amount, as applying too much could lead to greasiness, clogged pores, or irritation.

5. Use it at night: It’s best to use Aquaphor on your lashes at night before bedtime so that it can work while you sleep.

6. Monitor for any adverse reactions: If you experience any discomfort, redness, or irritation, discontinue use immediately.

Can you sleep with aquaphor on your eyelashes?

Yes, I even applied mine at night when I was about to sleep, but if you’re just using yours as a lash lift, then it’s not necessary to apply it at night or sleep through the night with it.

Does Aquaphor make your eyelashes fall out?

Aquaphor, when used properly and sparingly on the eyelashes, is generally considered safe for external use and should not cause your eyelashes to fall out. However, using excessive amounts or applying it too frequently may lead to issues such as clogged pores, irritation, or even damage to the eyelashes. If you notice your lashes falling out after using aquaphor please discontinue use immediately and see an ophthalmologist.

Does Aquaphor make your eyelashes grow back?

In my case it didn’t, so no. Aquaphor doesn’t make eyelashes grow. There are people who will swear by it, but for me it didn’t do the trick (catch my rhyme? ;)) Besides, medical doctors on Tiktok have disproved this.

Is aquaphor or Vaseline better for eyelashes?

Between Aquaphor and Vaseline, Vaseline is generally considered a better option for use on eyelashes if you choose to use either product. Vaseline is a petroleum jelly product, and like Aquaphor, it can provide moisture and act as a protective barrier for the lashes and the surrounding skin. However, Vaseline tends to be less greasy and may be better tolerated on the delicate skin around the eyes.
